Boliden is a high-tech metal company with its own mines and smelters that works long-term to ensure society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will play a crucial role in the future - what matters is how we produce them. Join us and drive change for future generations.

Do you want to work in one of the world's most modern and digitized underground mines? In Garpenberg, Boliden operates a highly automated and stable process where quality and safety are at the center. We are now looking for a Laboratory Assistant who wants to contribute to ensuring reliable analyses for our daily operations and continued development.

Your role

As a Laboratory Assistant in Garpenberg, you are an important part of the quality assurance within the Concentration Plant process. You are responsible for sampling, sample preparation, and analysis of materials from the concentration process and ensure that the results maintain a high technical and analytical standard. Your work has a direct impact on process control, metal recovery, boat deliveries, and production efficiency.

Your team

You belong to the laboratory within the process department, where you work closely with process engineers, technicians, supervisors, and operators in the concentration plant. The team is experienced, well-organized, and has a strong focus on safety, quality, and improvement work.

Your tasks

  • Conduct sampling and sample preparation from various stages of the concentration process.
  • Perform chemical and instrumental analyses, such as:
  • Sieving
  • XRF
  • Wet chemical analyses
  • Ensure functionality, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Document and report analysis results in LIMS and internal systems.
  • Contribute to the development, updating, and quality assurance of routines and instructions.
  • Actively participate in workplace and safety work, including 5S.
  • Participate in improvement projects related to sampling methodology, process control, and quality development.

Your contribution

You are meticulous, structured, and analytical, and you thrive in an environment of order, quality, and follow-up. You appreciate working independently but also being a team player who shares knowledge and contributes to a safe and inclusive work environment. You take great responsibility for your analyses and see the value in working in a process-intensive environment where high precision is crucial. At the same time, you have a development-oriented mindset, you are curious, question existing working methods, and are happy to contribute ideas on how methods, routines, and processes can be improved. You thrive when you can think innovatively, experiment, and work on continuous improvements. You resonate with Boliden's values of care, courage, and responsibility and want to contribute to sustainable and safe production.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education in chemistry, analytical chemistry, laboratory technology, or a similar technical/scientific field.
  • Experience in laboratory work, preferably from process, mineral, or industrial environments.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Good computer skills and preferably experience with LIMS or similar systems.
  • Ability to work systematically, safely, and with quality awareness.
  • Experience with instrumental analytical methods such as ICP, XRF, or wet chemistry is an advantage.
  • Experience with light maintenance is an advantage.
  • Driver's license B.
